asking price

The price that a seller is asking for a particular property.

The current asking price is not necessarily the price that the property will eventually sell for. The seller may choose to drop the price to attract more offers, or a buyer may negotiate a lower price.

The asking price is also not necessarily a reflection of the market value of the property. The seller's pricing strategy may involve pricing above or below market value for various reasons.
