Get Ready for Winter!

Posted November 15th, 2022 under renovations and repairs.

The weather is changing rapidly, and last-minute preparations for winter should be on your mind.

There’s still time to do any necessary outside paint jobs. Also, check the caulking around windows and doors, as well as all weather-stripping.

Make sure the ground still slopes away from your foundation, for at least six feet, to prevent water penetration when the snow melts. (Remember the ground settles every year.)

Remember to shut off outside taps, drain the pipes and empty the hoses. Hill up any roses by at least a foot, wrap evergreens, and harvest any kale after the frost, which improves its flavour.

Then you can get your shovel and cocoa ready, sit back, and wait for the snow.
