Home and Garden To-Do for July

It's time for the third fertilizing of the lawn!

This is also the final month for pruning or trimming evergreens and shade trees.

Cut strawberry plants down to about 2 inches after harvest. Also cut old raspberry canes (the ones that produced berries) after harvest.

Dead-head flowers as blooms fade.

Divide and transplant overgrown perennials.

Plant autumn cold crops such as cabbage, spinach, and beets.

Shallow-hoe vegetable gardens and water them regularly.
