A sum of money that a Buyer places in trust for a Seller to show that the Buyer's offer is sincere.

The buyer can choose either to give a deposit when they make their offer, or to give the deposit when their offer is accepted.

If there is a breach of contract on the part of the Buyer, the deposit may be forfeited.
