Personal Information, Privacy, and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)

noun—proper name

A law that governs how your personal information can be handled and used.

When you give personal information to a real estate agent, PIPEDA requires that they do not use it outside of your real estate dealings. (For example, your personal information cannot be sold to a third party for marketing purposes.)

All agents are required to inform their clients about PIPEDA.
